New Members: Jeremy (perspective)
Old Business: Field Trip: A. Tad shared on his experiences on the June 5th field trip. B. Still waiting on Minnesota Aquarium Society’s date for their fall auction. C. Tad gave a report of the Parade of Ponds. Tad made a motion to attend the Parade of Ponds on Sunday July 24th 2005 meeting at Lizard Landscaping 2034 Bellvue St at 10:00a.m.where we will purchase the tickets which will be paid for by the club. Seconded by Keith passed. D. Plans are being made for a Milwaukee Shop Hop watch for more info on this. E. Carrie gave a report on having writing added to the back of our sign with a cost of around $20.00. She also showed a different sigh that we might want to have made instead. Keith will check into the new sign costs.
Subcommittees:
Library: Scott did a check on the web site and discovered that several of the new books are not listed. He made a copy available to have the web master add them. Seconded he suggested that we list the available magazines we have. He will make a list for next meeting.
Show / Swap / Speakers: A. Ron contacted 1000 Island Nature Center and confirmed the date of September 10, 2005 for this event. B. Tad has the tanks and stands for the show. Set up for the show will be Friday September 9th 2005 at 6:00 p.m. Pizza will be available for a small fee. C. The awards will be handed out right after the show. D. A copy of a letter to be sent to past buyers and sellers was sent around a few additions and corrections were added. Sharon will make copies and send them out. E. Flyers were handed out to be posted later in August. F. Ron made a motion for the workers to go out to eat as a group with a location decided at a later date. Scott seconded passed G. Keith will give a talk o conditioning driftwood. H. Sharon will contact Bob and Marge to find out if Terry Fairfield would give a talk. I. Sharon suggested that we play some of the tapes from past events that we have recorded. All agreed it would be a good idea. Scott will review the tapes to see just what is available.
Web site: A. Ask Dave to check into other GBAS listings on Google and see if they can be eliminated and if so eliminate them. B. Dave has to resign from this position. Ron will try to take over with the help from a friend. Please be patient and any help with noticed mistakes will be appreciated.
New Business: Mark made a motion to have membership dues going back to being paid in October with new members being prorated. Sharon seconded. Passed
BAP: Tad brought fish.
Open Forum: shared on the progress of his new pond and the beginnings on his new fish room. B. Discussion on whether a tank that has been used for animals or other reptiles can be used for fish? It was undecided. More research is needed.
Raffle: Mark won the raffle.
Next meeting will be after the picnic August 13, 2005 at Bay Beach Wild Life Sanctuary.
